Dried raspberry seeds
Raspberry seeds have a unique fatty acid profile and high vitamin content: vitamin E, vitamin F, linoleic acid (omega-6), alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3), oleic acid (omega-9), palmitic acid (Table 1). They contain many organic acids with antioxidant properties, including gallic acid, ellagic acid (gallic acid dimer), carotenoids (beta-carotene, lutein and cryptoxanthin). Raspberry seed oil is widely used in cosmetics, including in oils for make-up removal and as an ingredient in balms, milks, butters and body mousses, hand creams, skin care oils and lipsticks. Raspberry seed oil is also useful in hair care as an additive to oils, conditioners and hair masks. In addition, the cake obtained after pressing the oil contains 9% total protein. This by-product can be used in food mixtures for ornamental birds or small companion animals.
