Dried strawberry pomace
Dried strawberry pomace (dried or ground to the fraction ordered).
Strawberry pomace obtained after pressing the juice and then drying it has a high share of seeds. Dried strawberry pomace contains min. 86% dry matter; 15-19% total protein; 11-14% crude fat; 35-39% crude fiber; max. 6% crude ash, among mineral compounds it contains 0.41% calcium and 0.44% total phosphorus. Dried strawberry pomace has a relatively low content of anthocyanin pigments, but their amount depends on the variety. Dried strawberry pomace is a valuable source of energy due to its high content of crude fat. In addition, it contains exogenous polyunsaturated fatty acids, including 29.0% alpha-linolenic acid (C18:3) and oleic acid (C18:1) in the amount of 15.5% with health-promoting properties. It is worth paying attention to the high content of pectins in strawberry pomace. It is known that pectins have antibacterial, absorptive (absorbing), antidiarrheal, antiatherosclerotic and antihemorrhagic (accelerate blood clotting) properties. They regulate bowel movements, alleviate inflammation, eliminate digestive disorders and passage of food. The high content of neutral detergent fiber (NDF) in strawberry pomace is of great importance, as it cannot be used directly in the small intestine of a pig. This fraction with a low level of lignin is digested by microorganisms in the cecum and colon, and during the fermentation process, volatile fatty acids (butyric acid and others) are released, which are used by adult animals. Dried strawberry pomace is produced in accordance with the requirements of the European feed safety standard GMP+ and the ISO 9001 standard.
